The Swan is the village pub on Rodden Row, family run since 1966. Freshly cooked food, a skittle alley, a beer garden, and the X53 stops right outside the door. The fire gutted it, and after seven months closed it was rebuilt and reopened on 21 August 2026. The Beachcombers are based here too, so the fireworks, the bingo, the quizzes and the band nights all happen at the Swan.
Food is served all day. The Sunday roast is first come, first served. There is a skittle alley and a function room for hire, a beer garden with the red phone box looking out over the hills, and well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar and the garden. Backup power
The Swan now has backup power. If the village loses its electricity the pub keeps its lights, its heating and its internet. That matters more than it might sound, because when the mains go off the mobile mast usually goes with it. In a long cut the Swan should be the one place in the village with a warm room, a phone signal (calls over the wifi), somewhere to charge up and a hot drink. Come and sit it out with us.

The Beachcombers
The village's volunteer events crew is based at the pub: fireworks on 7 November, the summer fête, bingo, quizzes, band nights and the marrow show. beachcombers.uk.

Getting here
The X53 and X52 stop outside: towards Weymouth and towards Bridport and Axminster. The village car park is a little further along Rodden Row. Directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze.
